Long-term homelessness drops significantly in South Lanarkshire

In 2019/20, 95 households in South Lanarkshire were considered long-term homeless - living in temporary accommodation for over a year.Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in a 28 per cent increase in demand for temporary accommodation in South Lanarkshire, that fell to 56 in 2020-21.Last month, councillors approved the annual review of the 'rapid rehousing transition' plan which has been boosted by more than £400,000 in Scottish Government funding.In total, £440,000 from the government’s Ending Homelessness Together fund will support the plan which will see an expansion of specialist support services for.
