More criminals have been locked up this week as court cases conclude across Greater Manchester. Jail terms were handed out to a builder who fatally struck his ex 19 times with an axe and to a thug who attacked a defenceless man with a machete.

A depraved paedophile who raped a young girl and a man who stabbed his friend following a row over a bus pass were also jailed in the last seven days.

A man who pointed an imitation gun at a grandad and an arsonist who set fire to his mattress were put behind bars too.
