Craig Grant, better known as “muMs da Schemer” or simply “muMs,” was a poet and actor who starred as Arnold “Poet” Jackson on the HBO series “Oz.”Grant was performing slam poetry in New York when he was featured in the 1998 documentary “SlamNation.” Around the same time, he was cast as Poet in “Oz,” where he was also able to perform his poetry over the course of the show’s six seasons.

As well as this, Craig has been a guest star on several popular television shows.His credits include parts on The Sopranos, Blue Bloods, Law & Order and Luke Cage.He also played Cash Jackson in the recent Netflix show She’s Gotta Have It.At the time of his death, Craig was working on the Starz series Hightown.He had been filming a recurring part in the show and was scheduled to appear next on the Tyler Perry series All the Queen’s Men.Following the news of his death, tributes have begun pouring in for the talented performer.His Oz co-star Kirk Acevedo wrote on Twitter: “Craig ‘muMs da Schemer’ Grant has passed away. Craig muMs Grant, who portrayed Arnold "Poet" Jackson on the acclaimed HBO drama Oz, has died. He was 52.

Craig “Mums” Grant, an actor and poet who appeared in all six seasons on HBO’s prison drama Oz among dozens of film, TV and stage credits, died Thursday. He was believed to be 53. His reps at Ellipsis Entertainment Group announced the news but did not provide details.
