Courtney Howard The “PAW Patrol” franchise is now 10 years old — 70 in dog years — and with each installment, children and their parents have been treated to exciting adventures, wholesome characters and cool new merchandise. What began as a preschool TV series in 2013 got the silver-screen treatment in 2021 with the inventively named “PAW Patrol: The Movie,” broadening its scale and reach but sacrificing none of its lesson-learning or toy-slinging.

Naman Ramachandran Universal’s “The Exorcist: Believer” debuted atop the U.K. and Ireland box office with £1.6 million ($2 million), according to numbers released by Comscore. In its second weekend, in second place, Disney’s “The Creator” collected £1 million for a total of £4.1 million.

This weekend sees the releases of four major movies, including Paramount’s family friendly “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie,” Lionsgate’s gory, R-rated “Saw X,” 20th Century’s sci-fi epic “The Creator” and “Sony’s GameStop stock story “Dumb Money.” “PAW Patrol” is expected to come out on top with an estimated $18 million to $20 million opening, but “Saw X” will be right on its tail with an estimated $15 million to $18 million. However, some projections go as high as $20 million to $25 million, overtaking the “PAW Patrol” pups.

Spin Master Entertainment, Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures have announced that PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie — their sequel to PAW Patrol: The Movie, which was itself based on the hit animated kids’ series PAW Patrol — will move up its release date from October 13 to go wide on September 29.

Taraji P. Henson (Empire) will lend her voice to PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie—Spin Master Entertainment, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies’ sequel to 2021’s PAW Patrol: The Movie, which opened in the number one spot in more than 25 countries and grossed over $150M worldwide.

In the wake of grossing $135M WW, PAW Patrol: The Movie is getting an exclusive theatrical 2023 sequel via Spin Master Entertainment, Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures, entitled PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie. The movie will hit theaters on Oct. 13, 2023.
