He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Tory Liz Truss declared war on anti-racism and sexism campaigners as she set out the government's new 'fairness' plan, even as details emerged of a lack of diversity on her own team.

Boris Johnson ’s government will move away from fighting against discrimination based on ‘protected characteristics’ such as gender, religion or ethnicity, and instead focus on fixing geographical inequalities, she said.

It came as the Trade Secretary faced criticism after it was revealed that of the 253 trade advisers she had appointed, 75% were men and 95% were white.
