Liverpool midfielder James Milner was not allowed to wear read as a child due to one of his Leeds United-supporting dad's rules.
Milner was born in Leeds and went on to join the club's academy before making over 50 appearances for the first team after making his debut aged 16 in 2002.However, due to the club's fierce rivalry with Manchester United, Milner's dad stopped his son from wearing the colour red as a child due to their Leeds allegiances.When Milner joined Liverpool in 2015, it felt "strange" to finally be able to wear red and that his dad joked it was the first time he had seen him wear the colour.Speaking to The Times in 2018, Milner said: “Growing up a Leeds fan, I was never allowed to wear a red T-shirt, my old man never allowed.
