Liverpool fans will ‘never doubt’ Jurgen Klopp again after crucial changes mid-game
Jurgen Klopp showed why he is the boss as Liverpool claimed a 2-0 win against Inter Milan in the first-leg of their Champions League last-16 tie to all but book their place in the quarter-finals of the competition. The tie at the San Siro looked to be heading for a goalless draw until Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah popped up late on for the Reds.Firmino - who started the game on the bench but came on Diogo Jota at half-time - flicked home Andrew Robertson's corner to break the deadlock with 15 minutes remaining.Salah then made it 2-0 eight minutes later with a deflected effort to put Liverpool on the brink of qualification for the next round. Inter had their chances, with the Serie A side hitting the bar through Hakan Calhanoglu with the score still at 0-0, but Klopp's inspired substitutions ensured that the first-leg advantage went to the Reds. The German boss introduced goalscorer Firmino, plus new signing Luis Diaz who showed some nice touches as the Anfield side closed out victory.
