Diouf played for the Trotters between 2004 and 2008, initially on loan from the Anfield side in the 2004/05 season. The former Senegal international found the back of the net nine times that campaign which, coupled with how things unfolded at him for Liverpool, meant Bolton under Sam Allardyce signed Diouf on a permanent basis in the summer of 2005.
