Liverpool’s reduced Premier League pay-out will still see champions earn staggering total

Liverpool’s Premier League prize money is still set to be sky high despite a coronavirus cut. The Reds should have earned £63million in what is known as “merit money” for winning the title.

But due to a reduction in revenue coming in from broadcasters during the pandemic, the final prize fund for this season is expected to be trimmed down.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will still win the biggest possible bonus, which will be snipped by 14% to £54million, with the money going down by about £2.7 million per place for teams below them in the league table, according to an article in The Times.

Only the performance-dependent payments to clubs will be affected, so the champions still stand to cash in on a total of £175million after lifting the Premier
