Liverpool’s annual player wage bill soared above Manchester United as the Premier League Big Six’s salaries were revealed. The English top flight is known for being one of the biggest spending leagues in the world when it comes to wages.
Even the likes of Crystal Palace and Leicester City made it into the top 20 clubs in Europe in 2020, with both clubs registering wage bills well in excess of £100m.
During the 2019/20 season, among the so-called ‘Big Six’ of the Premier League there was some interesting movements as wages continued to rise, despite the effects of the pandemic.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Manchester City topped the table, not for the first time, with a startling overall wage bill of £351m.
