Callum Wilson turned in a relatively easy finish to give the Cherries a shock lead at Anfield and compound their recent misery.
However, there was plenty of drama in the build up, with Joe Gomez easily shoved off the ball by Wilson just outside the penalty area.
Referee Tierney sent the incident to VAR, but the video referee deemed that there was not a foul. And furious Liverpool fans took to Twitter to slam Gomez and the referee’s for their part in Bournemouth’s opener. “Blatant foul on Gomez there, not sure how they didn't spot that in real time,” one wrote.
