During Sunday's Line of Duty series six finale, his character Ian Buckells was revealed to be H, however some fans weren't pleased with the outcome.
Nigel appeared on BBC Breakfast on Monday following the big reveal, and spoke of how it was inevitable that some people would be upset by Buckells being H.
He said: "If your expectations are somewhere, then you're setting yourselves up for disappointment, and that's not to say all fans are doing that, it's just everyone's got their own ideas and theories about how something's going to pan out, and if everyone does that someone's not going.
