Lidl has launched a new rewards club - promising big discounts on own brand food, cinema tickets and even Sky TV and broadband.

The German discounter said the new scheme, available to download as an app, will also offer weekly coupons and scratch cards where shoppers can get £20 off their weekly grocery shop.

The app, Lidl Plus, will rival the likes of Nectar and Tesco Clubcard, and will offer rewards each time it is scanned at the checkout.

It said its flagship promotion will be the app's digital scratch card which is available every time a user makes a purchase.
