Liam Kelly insists nobody could argue if Jack Butland grabbed a place in England’s Euros squad. But the Motherwell goalkeeper is fully focused on holding onto his own ticket to Germany with Scotland by leaving no question marks over his form for the Steelmen.
Kelly will this afternoon go up against the shotstopper he says has been by far and away the best in the Premiership since moving north of the border.
And he reckons Gareth Southgate would be wrong to hold the Scottish game against Butland when selecting his three goalkeepers for upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.All going well both will be at the Euros in June with Kelly hoping to keep his spot in Steve Clarke’s squad for the friendly double header against Netherlands and Northern Ireland later this month.
He said: “I’m a big fan of Jack Butland. I played against him when he was at Stoke and I was with QPR. He is undoubtedly the best goalie in the league this year. "His confidence is clearly sky-high, he’s making great saves, distributing the ball well, coming for crosses.
