Linlithgow Reds were able to maintain their 100 per cent record thanks to a last-ditch penalty in a high-scoring thriller against Broughton.A pulsating 80 minutes ended with Linlithgow kicker Jack Frame slotting over a penalty 25 metres out to give his side a scarcely believable 55-52 victory in their East Region League Division One clash.Broughton were the first team to strike as they opened the scoring with a try before both teams went on to enjoy periods of dominance in the first half.A spell of three tries in quick succession seemingly had the Reds in control at 19-5, only for Broughton to hit back and score 21 unanswered points to hold the advantage heading into the break.The Reds’ first try was a fine solo effort from Conor Findlay with the second quickly following when Ewan Curran finished off a slick handling move.He went from finisher to provider for try No.3 as he sent full-back Ross Tulloch in for a try as the Reds built up a 14-point advantage.That was quickly wiped out, however, with the Reds hit by Broughton not being able to meet the scrum requirements, with the uncontested scrums wiping out a strength of the home side.That seemed to galvanise the visitors who scored three converted tries in the quick succession to close out the first half and take a 26-19 lead into the break.They added to their advantage with a fifth try just after the restart before the Reds produced a sublime 20 minute spell that saw them score five tries – four of which were converted – to take a 52-31 lead.At that stage, Broughton then replicated their first-half heroics of notching three tries in the blink of an eye to level the scores heading into the final moments of the topsy-turvy affair.Linlithgow simply swept their opponents
