Kieran Trippier is back in the spotlight…and he couldn’t be happier to be under the searing heat of scrutiny. The former Tottenham defender wants to use Atletico Madrid’s success, in ending Liverpool ’s defence of their Champions League trophy, to catapult himself back into the England set-up.
The right-back has lost his international spot to Wednesday night’s rival Trent Alexander-Arnold, and even lost his place in the England squad last summer for the Nations Cup.
Yet he is pushing hard to be recalled for England’s friendly against Italy which is due to be played at the end of this month - though that date is now looking increasingly unlikely due to the coronavirus crisis.
