Hearts are closing in on making Peterborough United midfielder Jorge Grant their fourth summer signing. And Posh director of football Barry Fry has promised Jambos fans they are getting a “fantastic footballer” if personal terms can be agreed.The 27-year-old was in Edinburgh today for a tour of Tynecastle and the Oriam training complex after the two clubs agreed on a fee well below the League One club’s £750,000 release clause.
Fry, speaking to Record Sport , revealed he reluctantly dumped the clause after Grant made it clear he wanted to speak to Hearts and after the two clubs agreed a reduced figure.
Grant has interest south of the border with Blackpool and Portsmouth among the clubs keen.But the lure of European group stage football with the Jambos is understood to appeal to the former Nottingham Forest and Lincoln City ace who is now mulling over a decision.
And Fry said: “We have agreed a fee with Hearts, that is true. “I blocked the release clause so that Jorge could go up there to speak to the club, it’s a great opportunity for him.
