Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Joey Veerman has offered a clue on his future on social media as he responded to a Heerenveen fan plea to remain at the club.
The midfielder is a top target for Steven Gerrard and is keen to leave Heerenveen this summer for a new challenge. The 22-year-old has already been subject of bids from Hellas Verona in Serie A and Eredivise rivals Feyenoord this summer with Rangers waiting in the wings.
Heerenveen have stood firm amid the interest and demanding a fee in the region of €10million (£8.4million).That has led to a war of words between playmaker and the club as he insisted the price tag was far too high.
