A club legend as a player having skippered the Buddies to League Cup glory in 2013, Goodwin had proven himself on the touchline at part-time Alloa Athletic in the Championship.
While it was an appointment that was always going to have the backing of the fans, the Irishman still had to earn his stripes in the cut-throat top flight where job security is tenuous at best.Two years later, Goodwin finds himself as the second-longest serving boss in the Scottish Premiership - behind only Rangers.
