Jackie Lane was an English actress best known for playing Dorothea “Dodo” Chaplet, the First Doctor’s companion, on “Doctor Who.”Lane appeared on “Doctor Who” in 1966, starring alongside William Hartnell as the First Doctor.

She was the eighth person to play a companion, the men and women who travel alongside the Doctor as friends and assistants. Lane starred in 19 episodes during the show’s third season.

She also appeared on TV shows including “Coronation Street” and “Compact,” as well as joining the 2013 special “Doctor Who Live: The Afterparty.” In later years, Lane headed an acting agency’s voiceover department.“Dodo was very much a Sixties character – I think I was one of the first girls on television to wear a mini-skirt.
