The Cock Hotel in Walkden Road can trace its heritage back to 1650, according to the Worsley Urban District Council.The watering hole first began its life as a farm and inn known as Meaney, before changing its name to The Cock after a famous game bird which stood on the bar, preserved.Over the years, the old pub became filled with stories and conversations from bygone eras - even strange tales of the region's most famous pig.
But the dismantling of hundreds-of-years-old bricks has revealed memories of what was once one of Worsley's favourite pubs. One customer who frequented the pub in the late 1960s and 70s has shared his memories of 'growing up' in The Cock, featuring long nights and lots.
