Workers from Capita’s contact centre on Dumers Lane in Radcliffe, which provides sales and customer service for Tesco Mobile, described the plans as ‘unfeasible’ and a ‘kick in the teeth’.
Around 500 members of staff employed at the call centre were told earlier this month that the company would be closing operations at the Bury site.
Capita said it would be moving some staff to its existing base in Preston Brook, Cheshire - a 70-mile round trip from the Radcliffe centre.
