Gundogan was on target as the Germans beat Iceland 3-0 in their opening 2022 World Cup qualifier in Duisburg last night. The home side raced into a two-goal lead inside seven minutes, courtesy of Leon Goretzka and Chelsea's Kai Havertz.
Gundogan added a third in the 56th minute with a 20-yard strike into the bottom corner of the net. It was his 18th goal for club and country so far this season - and that tally includes 15 in his past 24 appearances.
