A 111-year-old man has credited his impressive mortality to a Scottish breakfast staple. Ben Ngemani Mabuza is believed to be the second oldest man in the world, outranked by Brit John Alfred Tinniswood who is an extra year ahead.
His official ID card states he was born in 1913 - meaning he's lived through both World Wars and 23 UK Prime Ministers (24 if you count Keir Starmer).
Known as 'Grandfather Ben' in the village of Silobela in South Africa, the 111-year-old says the key to a long life all boils down to his simple diet - which you can grab from the supermarket for less than £1."Every day I eat porridge, meat and morogo, a wild type of African spinach.
I know my plants," Mabuza said. It is believed Scots have been eating porridge for more than 5,500 years, stretching back to 600 AD, and have long been hailed for their incredible health benefits.According to Healthline, oats are 'loaded with important vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants' and are a great source of protein.
