The husband of a railway worker who died from coronavirus after she was spat at said her loss has 'destroyed the whole world for him and his daughter'.

Lusamba Katalay has spoken out for the first time after the tragic death of 47-year-old Belly Mujinga was revealed by the Mirror earlier this month.

The former BBC journalist, who had suffered long-term respiratory problems, died in hospital on April 5 – 13 days after a passenger is alleged to have spat at her and an unnamed colleague at Victoria Station.

Her colleague also contracted Covid-19 but recovered. Lusamba, 60, has spoken out as the Home Secretary Priti Patel pledged to double the maximum common assault jail sentence to 12 months for anyone who spits at a key worker.
