Shocked onlookers reportedly screamed in horror as a helicopter door broke off the aircraft at 800ft and plummeted to earth, hitting a nearby building before coming to land in the grounds of a secondary school where kids were playing.
The secondary school gates had been opened to give children a place to play, and eyewitnesses reported seeing kids run for their lives as the door came crashing down.
The incident occurred yesterday in the densely populated Dublin suburb of Clondalkin, and DublinLive reports the chopper door travelled over a pub and a busy Tesco car park before landing in a field at Moyle Park College.
