Manchester City and Manchester United have booked a place in the last-16 of Europe’s top club competition. City face Sporting and Manchester United will play Atletico Madrid, while fellow Premier League sides Chelsea and Liverpool will take on Lille and Inter Milan respectively.
However well the English clubs fare in the knockout stage, they’ve already had a lucrative season in the competition so far.
English clubs have earned a combined total of €323.2m from the Champions League group stages according to football finance experts Swiss Ramble.
Manchester City top the list with €84.9m, followed by Chelsea with €80.3m, then Manchester United with €79.4m and Liverpool with £78.6m.
