Joe Gomez fears his season could be over after injuring his knee playing a pass in training. The Liverpool defender is set for a sustained spell on the sidelines after suffering the injury in training on Wednesday morning.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, already without Virgil van Dijk for the season, is now facing up to potentially losing his other first-choice centre-back.
Gomez has returned to Liverpool to undergo scans to fully ascertain how serious the injury is, with the club unwilling to speculate.
But all signs point towards a long-term injury, similar to the cruciate ligament injury suffered in 2015, after Gomez collapsed in pain with no other player around him.
