Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos is to step down as CEO of the world's biggest retail giant, three decades after launching the platform from his small-town garage in Seattle.
The businessman, whose empire started as an online bookshop in a one-bedroom rental in the US, said the decision will allow him to focus more "time and energy" on other ventures.
It comes after Amazon's UK sales topped £20billion for the year - with £1 of every £20 spent during the Covid crisis going to the American retail powerhouse.
