Quick-thinking hotel staff are offering €2 rooms in a desperate bid to attract customers to its restaurant in a 'loophole' deal after a string of last minute cancellations.

The Beach Hotel Downings in Ireland launched its €2 offer to recoup stock costs after an expected full house of guests cancelled on Friday evening.

Under Ireland's new coronavirus restrictions, which came into force at midnight, restaurants and bars can serve up to 15 people in an outdoor setting.
