Fife sparked chaos on one of Scotland's busiest roads. Emergency services raced to the A92 near Lochgelly when the alarm was raised just after 10pm on Saturday.
The southbound carriageway was closed with motorists being diverted following the late-night smash. Witnesses claimed multiple cars were involved in the smash and one motor ended up 'in a field'.
One wrote on social media: "Massive pile up between Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly. "There are eight fire trucks, 12 ambulances and around 20 police officers on the scene. "If you're heading from Kirkcaldy to Cowdenbeath way, avoid the motorway."Another added: "Really bad accident."Car in field, lots of emergency services on the scene. "It doesn't look great."It is not yet known how many.
