Home secretary Priti Patel facing legal action over unfair dismissal and bullying claims by ex-Home Office adviser

Home Secretary Priti Patel is facing legal action over allegations of bullying and unfair dismissal. Former Home Office permanent secretary Sir Philip Rutnam quit his post in February amid allegations of bullying behaviour by Ms Patel.

He has now launched legal action claiming “constructive dismissal”. The claim was submitted to an employment tribunal on Monday morning.

It comes as the Cabinet Office is expected to conclude an inquiry into claims that Ms Patel clashed with senior officials and belittled colleagues.
