An NHS volunteer was reduced to tears by the kindness show by Home Bargains shop workers during the coronavirus outbreak. Mobile hairdresser Jayne Southall, 56, from Burton, Derbyshire, popped into her local branch to try and buy hand sanitiser for the elderly and vulnerable she is helping.
However she was soon disappointed to learn there was a one-per-customer rule in place to stop panic buying. Instead of leaving the store crestfallen Jayne says she weeped tears of appreciation when staff dipped into their own pockets to pay for dozens of bottles of the hygiene product.
