Hollywood icon and Sean Penn's mum, Eileen Ryan, has died at 94.The veteran American actress who starred in the hit 70s show Little House on the Prairie and Bonanza died at her home in Malibu.
A representative confirmed that the mother-of-three passed away on Sunday (October 9), just days before her 95th birthday. Her cause of death was not shared. READ MORE: Michael Caine, 89, looks frail as he walks with frame months after major surgeryAlongside Hollywood's Sean Penn, 62, Eileen was also the mum of musician Michael Penn and the late actor Chris Penn, who died aged 40 of heart disease in 2006.The mum-of-three starred in several movies alongside her son Sean, including 1991's The Indian Runner, The Crossing Guard in 1995, I Am Sam in 2001, and the 2006 production of All The King's Men.
But, before sharing the screen with her son, she paused her acting career to be a full-time mom for several years.Eileen made her acting debut on stage in the 1953 production of Sing Till Tomorrow and then appeared on the drama series Goodyear Television Playhouse in 1955.
Her husband, Leo Penn, who died in 1998 at the age of 77, directed the 1988 movie Judgment In Berlin, in which Eileen starred as Gerta X.Other acting credentials include appearances in episodes of Cannon, Matlock and At Close Range.
