The former station was closed in 1956 and was purchased by Network Rail in 2019.Allan Rutherford, head of designation at Historic Environment Scotland, said: “As one of 10 intermediate stations on the Scottish Central Railway built between 1847-48, this former station was proposed for listing by a member of the public in 2019.“We consulted with the owner and the local authority and the consultation was also open to the public via our online portal.“The level of interest shown for this building and for Scotland’s railway heritage was significant, particularly amongst the community.
