Kieran Tierney appointed captain as he was one of the few to emerge with credit from their Europa League semi-final. The Scotland international was named on the bench by manager Mikel Arteta after recovering from a knee injury.
But a problem for Granit Xhaka in the warm-up forced Tierney into action, with the Celtic youth product playing 75 minutes at left centre-back.
His side were held to a 0-0 draw and were slammed by fans, but Tierney was spared their wrath.The Gunners were trailing 2-1 from the first leg in Spain and failed to overturn the deficit as Unai Emery got one over his former club to once again reach the final of a competition he thrives in.
