Heartbreaking tribute paid to tragic Scots pilot who died in Black Isle gyrocopter crash

crash on the Black Isle last week. Paul Nichol was declared dead at the scene of the incident between the villages of Munlochy and Avoch last Thursday.

The 67-year-old, from Balloch was flying a mini Cavalon helicopter at the time. He was the sole occupant of the aircraft when it crashed.

He leaves behind his wife, Hazel, a jewellery maker based in Inverness.Last night his family said in a statement: “In a statement released through Police Scotland the family said: “Paul lost his life whilst out doing something he loved so much.“It was the freedom that flying gave him; the sense of adventure, the chance to feel challenged and to explore.
