Donna Marie Smith admitted defrauding the vulnerable pensioner - who has not been named - by pinching four cheques over a nine-month period while working at her home in Scraptoft, Leicester.
The victim died not understand why her favourite support worker - who even tried to stitch up an innocent colleague - suddenly stopped coming round to see her.
In court, the judge labelled the 51-year-old defendant's actions to someone who trusted her as "quite simply hateful", reports LeicestershireLive.
