Greater Manchester council employs two 'coronavirus officers'

Two new COVID-19 officers have been employed by the council.The two officers will be on hand to help businesses to reopen as lockdown begins to ease and provide advice and information on government guidelines.While they don’t have any enforcement powers, they can and will report breaches of social distancing or other issues to the council and police who will then deal with any interventions needed.The officers will work alongside other council services provide advice and support directly to businesses in Altrincham, Sale, Stretford, Urmston and Partington in particular.Funded by the European Regional Development Fund, through the government’s Reopening High Streets Safely initiative, the officers will help to ensure social distancing.
