Government begs Brits to 'stay indoors and save lives' as weather heats up this weekend

The message to Brits from the government today, ahead of a mini heatwave this weekend, is "stay indoors or people will die".

In his message to the nation, during the Downing Street press conference this afternoon, health secretary Matt Hancock made the plea to Brits who may fancy getting out in the sunshine during the coronavirus lockdown.

He said: "We're set for a warm weekend in some parts of the country, but the disease is still spreading an we absolutely cannot afford to relax the social distancing measures that we have in place. "We cannot relax our discipline now.

If we do, people will die. "This advice is not a request, it is an instruction. Stay at home, protect lives, and then you will be doing your part." The Health Secretary
