A pensioner has opened up on Good Morning Britain about her harrowing experience last winter, saying she "thought she was going to die" due to the cold.

Jennie Leggatt made an appearance on the show on Wednesday (October 16), sharing with hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley her dire financial situation.

Despite receiving her state pension and a modest monthly pension from work, Jennie found herself without enough funds to heat her home.

Speaking to ITV viewers, Jennie recounted her life of hard work after university and her contributions to the system, only to find herself in hardship, struggling to get by.
