Giles Coren's home has been smeared in graffiti and littered with dog poo following a row over deleted tweets. The food critic, 51, sparked outrage after tweeting 'f*** off to hell' following the sudden death of journalist Dawn Foster, who had previously criticised him.

Foster, who had epilepsy and a rare genetic disorder, died last Thursday at the age of 34 after a spell in hospital, friends confirmed.

Foster once accused Giles of securing his position as the Times' restaurant critic because of his connection to famous father Alan Coren.
