An asteroid bigger than the Eiffel Tower travelling at 15,000mph is heading towards Earth. The space rock measuring a huge 1,083 feet has been labelled "potentially dangerous" by NASA.Asteroid 4660 - or Nereus - is set to 'skim' Earth's surface and despite passing 4.6million miles away it is among the closest known giant asteroids to pass us.Astronomer and planetary scientist, Dr Franck Marchis, said that the gigantic rock is currently "not a threat".

However, the rapid travelling mass could be diverted by a number of things including an encounter with other asteroids of planets within our solar system.The expert said: ""Any deviation could be an issue.
