Netflix has debuted the first look at the upcoming movie Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which is the final film that Chadwick Boseman made before he tragically passed away this summer.
The movie is based on the play by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner August Wilson and stars Viola Davis in the title role.
The film was directed by George C. Wolfe, adapted for the screen by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, and produced by Denzel Washington.
Here is the synopsis: Tensions and temperatures rise over the course of an afternoon recording session in 1920s Chicago as a band of musicians await trailblazing performer, the legendary “Mother of the Blues,” Ma Rainey (Davis).
