Marcus Rashford (born 31 October 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Manchester United and the England national team.
A Manchester United player from the age of seven, he scored two goals on both his first-team debut against Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa League in February 2016 and his Premier League debut against Arsenal three days later.
He also scored in his first Manchester derby match, his first EFL Cup match and his first UEFA Champions League match. With United, Rashford has so far won the FA Cup, EFL Cup, FA Community Shield and UEFA Europa League.
Gary Lineker has applauded Marcus Rashford for his open letter to the Government but says: "A young footballer shouldn't have to be imploring them to do this".
Rashford on Monday morning pleaded with MPs to reconsider their decision not to extend the current food voucher scheme in an open letter "written from the heart".
The 22-year-old Manchester United and England striker urged the authorities to make a U-turn and allow vulnerable children who have been getting free meals during the coronavirus lockdown to continue receiving them in the summer holidays.
And Lineker was among the familiar faces to praise Rashford's role in putting pressure on Boris Johnson and Co, though he feels it shouldn't have come to this.
