Former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has blasted Maurizio Sarri for the way he handled his final season at Stamford Bridge, insisting it is “difficult to have respect” for the Italian.
Cahill won it all in his eight-year stint at Chelsea; picking up two Premier League titles, as many FA Cups and Europa Leagues, one League Cup and the Champions League.
He racked up 290 appearances in total for the Blues, with 91 of them coming in their 2014/15 and 2016/17 title-winning campaigns.
Yet Cahill’s successful spell in west London ended in a damp squib last year under Sarri, who restricted his captain to just two league appearances before he left to join Crystal Palace upon the expiry of his contract.
