In that film, her character, Diana Prince, is a strong but benevolent warrior. She's more of a defender than an attacker. Apparently, Gadot was concerned that Whedon's rewrites and new scenes were pushing the character in a more aggressive direction and that it wouldn't make sense for there to be a sudden shift in Diana's character between the two.
