Fyre Festival co-founder Billy McFarland is requesting an early release from prison due to coronavirus. Despite being sentenced to six years in jail for his part in the infamous 2017 scandal, McFarland is hoping he can get out early due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

According to TMZ, Billy’s lawyers have argued that the 28-year-old’s pre-existing health conditions such as asthma and ‘extreme’ allergies make him more susceptible to the virus.

They wrote: ‘Mr McFarland is not a risk to the community nor a threat to public safety. ‘The crime to which he pleaded guilty for was the non-violent financial crime of wire fraud.
