Italian restaurant Trattoria Guidi in Airdrie at around 1am on Wednesday morning, August 11. Six fire engines raced to the scene with over 20 firefighters battling the inferno through the early hours of the morning.
Ricardo Guidi, whose father Carlo Guidi owns the restaurant, told the Daily Record the family has been left shocked by the fire.
The head chef revealed hoses were still being used to dampen the scorched building on Wednesday afternoon.There was an outpouring of sadness from customers and the local community as the news broke of the incident.Local MSP Neil Gray said: "I’m absolutely devastated that Trattoria Guidi has been destroyed by fire overnight."Guidi’s is an Airdrie institution and I’ve enjoyed so many lovely meals there..
