Several major New Year's Eve events have been cancelled due to severe weather forecasts warning of high winds and torrential rain as we welcome 2025.The new year may be on the horizon, but it seems it won't all be sunshine and firework displays.
A fearsome weather front is sweeping across the UK today, causing a big headache for NYE event organisers. London's City Hall has announced it is "monitoring the weather" closely regarding the capital's upcoming celebrations, following the cancellation of part of Edinburgh's Hogmanay activities.
A coastal New Year's Eve fireworks display has been called off because of predicted high winds, with Blackpool Council describing the decision as a "tough one".
However, they confirmed that a projection show set to music will still light up the night. Meanwhile, the family party by the sea at the Tower Festival Headland is all set to entertain from 3pm to 6pm.The stormy conditions are expected to sweep across the UK on New Year's Eve, with yellow advisories for wind and rain issued across areas in England, Northern Ireland, and Wales.
